Banksy Does Simpsons Intro

     The infamous street and graffiti artist Banksy receieved the honour of creating his own Simpsons 'couch' intro this past week. This is the first time an artist has been invited to story board and direct the intro. Dark but pretty awesome. Also, this episode was extremely funny too.  Kind of surprised they aired this, according to BBC news there were reports of delays and 'threatened walk out by the animation department.'

Child Rebel Soldier

       The new G.O.O.D Friday track from Kanye West  is a new single from the recently resurrected rap super group Child Rebel Soldier. The group features Pharrel, Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West himself. Now these guys have claimed before that they would not be doing an album but hopefully they'll change their mind. At least an EP since they seem to be becoming more common lately. Although Lupe Fiasco has recently said this track is 'out dated' since it was recorded 2 years ago. It still sounds fresh to us.

Sometimes the Blues Is Just a Passing Bird

Folk Singer The Tallest Man on Earth releases a new EP titled 'Sometimes the Blues is Just a Passing Bird'. All Bob Dylan references aside, this guy is evolving as an artist into his own. Always a perfect fix for some sweet heavenly folk. 'The Dreamer' which has him going electric is definitely one of my favourites. Not quite as dramatic as when Dylan went electric but still interesting. I give the album a bunch of stars or two thumbs or whatever we do here.

Most Kings Get Their Heads Chopped Off

DJ Green Lantern released Invasion Radio 2K10 mixtape this summer.  Supplying us a track that seems like it got cut from Jay Z's 'Kingdom Come.' Chris Martin provides the erily poppy hook and Jay Z dates, proposes, engages then marries and divorces his usual flow.

Choclair Makes Surprise Appearance at Rascalz Concert in Nanaimo

Nanaimo got down with a little more of the Northern Touch than they expected this past Saturday night. As if they weren't hyped enough about seeing the Rascalz reunion concert in Nanaimo, the crowd at Spice Lounge was shocked when Canadian hip hop legend Choclair hopped up on stage and performed with the Rascalz crew for the remainder of the show.
Attached below is a video of the performance in which Choclair performs his new single "Made (Move Mountains)" and the Rascalz and Choclair perform "Northern Touch" (5:37).


If you didn't get a chance to make out to the show in Nanaimo (or even if you did), the Rascalz are also going to be performing in Victoria at Sugar Nightclub on Tuesday August 17th, 2010 along with special guests Pigeon Hole of Sweatshop Union. More Super Groups!

First off, sorry for the lack of post. I think I can speak for everyone here at Too Much Birthday Cake when I say the summer got the best of us! Woo Woo!

Some awesome reports of a couple new Super Groups are circling the ol' net. This time its rap and R&B that is grouping up to up to be super.

Hip hop Super groups aren't a new thing...
Having success like they do in the rock world is and few groups have managed that.

Lupe Fiasco, Wale, The Cool Kids, Blu, Asher Roth, J Cole, B.O.B, Charles Hamilton, Diggy

Lupe calls this more of a movement than a group. “I just wanted it to be the collective of those dudes and put a name on it,” said Lupe. “Like they already kinda put us Yall in the same box. They kinda put us in the same family of MC’s whether it be the hipster rappers or the nerd rappers…Since they putting us in a box, might as well own the box. And write our name on the box and paint it the color
we want it." Lupe says no album their Facebook page says "just gotta be patient on the music....this aint Detox though, so dont worry, it wont take 3453 years."

Questlove from The Roots, Raphael Saadiq, Amy Winehouse

Questlove has confirmed this group stating that the only thing holding them back is Winehouse's inability to travel. "...definitely going to happen, it’s just that we have to work overtime to get her visa situation together. The closest she can come to the States is Jamaica" This groups sounds like it could easily make some music history if they can get Winehouse to clean up.

Diddy, Dj Khaled, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Red Cafe

Diddy is reported to have assemled His idea of a dream tream. Throwing away whatever credibility Busta Rhymes had, Diddy decided to put him on par with the likes of Fat Joe. Whether or not this team of 'entertainers' will produce anything listenable it'll definitely be a memorable collaboration.
