Thunderheist Takes Victoria by Storm

Toronto's electro-fueled hip-hop duo, Thunderheist had a solid finish to their U.S-Canadian tour last weekend by playing a sold-out show at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria on Saturday, November 21st. The group combines heavy baselines created by the highly versatile producer, GrahmZilla with the clever rhyming of Nigerian-born, Toronto-raised M.C Isis who has been "freestyling with 30 year old men since [she] was 13." The result is a highly original sound that is both energizing and absorbing.

To see some of my videos from the show at Sugar, (which I did not post because of inferior sound and video quality) hit up my youtube page. To see and hear more of Thunderheist, check out their myspace page or youtube, where you can listen to many of their songs, including the popular single, "Jerk it" which was featured in the Oscar-nominated film, 'The Wrestler.'

New music from the Blak Roc project!

"On the vista" is the newest track from the Blak Roc Project (Dame Dash and The Black Keys)
11 tracks of this sounds good to me, stoked to hear the rest of it.

Double Down Chicken Sandwich

The KFC "Double Down Chicken Sandwich" is definitely something. No bun, Two pieces of  chicken with cheese and bacon.... I think I just had a heart attack.  The Vancouver Sun  did their own story with guesstiations at how many calories this thing had (1228.) KFC ran another contrary to what they had reported.
"But if our figures hold true, and KFC won't confirm they don't, the Double Down is more caloriffic than the Wendy's Triple with Everything and Cheese (1700 mg sodium, 960 calories, 26 gms of fat), the Burger King Stacker Quad (1770 sodium, 1020 calories, 69 gms of fat), and compares closely to the fat, salt and calorie totals of three McDonalds Big Macs put together (3060 sodium, 1620 calories, 87 gms fat)."

Either way, this thing cost $6.99 so its way out of my price range.

And the real photo...

Psalm One Wins "Sound Off" Competition

Englewood native, Psalm One was recently pronounced the grand prize winner of the 'Chicago Public Library Sound Off Music Contest' with her entry, "My Bucket Song", which can be heard above. As you can hear, this catchy and upbeat tribute to Chicago was determined the winner out of 40 entries for it's creativity, quality of performance and original expression. What is especially noteworthy about the song is Psalm's collaboration with Kaotic Drumline, a young percussion group and youth outreach project from Chicago’s south side which aims to get kids off the street and and keep them focused on making something positive out of their lives.

Winning 'Sound Off' landed Psalm One the opportunity to headline the CHIPPUBLIB Sound Off concert, which was held on October 22nd at downtown Chicago's Prtizker Park. Despite chilling temperatures and torrential downpour, many fans, supporters and bargain-hunters showed up for the free event and showed their love for the windy city.

The 'Sound Off' concert grew out of the Chicago Public Library’s new “Not what you think” marketing campaign, which is aimed at getting more 20- and 30-somethings involved with the library by offering free music downloads, movies and Wi-Fi and by holding art and music contests, exhibitions and performances.
