Psalm One Drops Video for "Ginsu Knives" Featuring Del

Rhymesayers emcee Psalm One just released the video for her latest single "Ginsu Knives" featuring the legendary Del Tha Funkee Homosapien of Hieroglyphics.
The video triggers mixed emotions because although it features inspiring footage such as Psalm interacting with fans, travelling the world and performing on stage with Del, it also serves as a personal tribute to the late Michael "Eyedea" Larsen of Eyedea and Abilities. As a fellow blogger articulates quite nicely, "the visuals are both exciting for what the future lies for Psalm, and somber, because of the reality that the world lost a terrific person, artist and performer."

The track is from the third installment of Psalm One's 'Woman @ Work' series. If you like what you hear, do yourself a favour and download Volumes 1-3 of the series for free here.

New Aesop Rock track and video!

Aesop Rock knows how to do it. He lays low only to pop up every once in awhile with something solid. One of my favourite rappers for that reason. He doesn't come out and flood his fans with as much material as he possibly can but instead barely supplies with enough. Then surprises us with new music like this. A remix of Philly-based instrumental/psych rock band Grimace Federation and their new track "Bosico."  Oh yeah and a video to go along with it.

Maniac

In 2009, underground Def Jux rapper Cage teamed up with his Hollywood buddy Shai LeBeouf (Transformers, Disturbia) for the video 'I Never Knew You.' This was a new musical direction for Cage that clearly payed off. Directing Cage's music video was Shai's first shot at directing a video. Now, Cage has confirmed that there are plans to make 'Maniac' the unlikely collabo with Cage and Kid Cudi into a mini film, directed by Shai LeBeouf. In the same vein as Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and recently Kanye West's 'Runaway.' It'll be interesting to see what these guy come up with.

The song 'Maniac" seems like a pretty unusual collaboration though considering Kid Cudi comes from Kanye West's ever changing and very stylish wing G.O.O.D Music and Cage comes from E-LPs underground broken home known as Def Jux It seems unlikely they would ever even cross paths but Cage's recent genre transformation has landed him in Kid Cudi's sights. Check out Kid Cudi ft Cage & St Vincent perform 'Maniac' on Jimmy Fallon with The Roots.

Conan Returns!

Conan O'Brien and his crew returned to T.V Monday night with a new late night talk show 'Conan.' Premiering on TBS to 4.2 million viewers, it crushed Conan's late night rivals Jay Leno (3.5 mill) and Letterman (3.4 mill) by almost a million each. Its good to see Conan back in his element. The premiere was pretty funny so it'll be interesting to see if Coco can hold on to this momentum for a couple of months, or even weeks.

New Michael Jackson Album

This album will consist of all new original music from MJ recorded before his death in 2009. Its now safe to say that Michael will be doing what all other dead musicians do best... selling records and making money.  Michael Jackson was even declared the Highest Earning Dead Celebrity of 2009. 'Michael' will be released December 14, just in time for Christmas. So you can blindly purchase it for those 'hard to shop for people' on your Christmas list. The first single 'Breaking News' will premiere Nov 8th on www.michaeljackson.com.

MC Hammer Disses Jay Z

MC Hammer or "King Hammer" returns to rap to address a line Jay Z directed his way a couple weeks ago. He returns not only with a new song "Better Run Run" but he recorded a video for it as well. Who knew he still had it in him. Now the imagery is clear, Jay Z sold his soul to the devil for fame but the delivery? This song definitely has a sound but it happens to be MC Hammer circa early 90's. Now the line that hammer is refering too would be "The hammer went and broke so you know I'm more focused/I lost 30 mill so spent another 30/Cause unlike hammer 30 million can't hurt me" which Jay Z dropped in his verse for Kanye West's G.O.O.D Friday release "So Appalled."  The video feature a Jay Z lookalike running through the forest as the devil is chasing him, scenes of Hammer dancing in all white around a fire and of course some hard core dancing. "King Hammer" baptizes the Jay Z lookalike to close the video. Clearly, solving everything. This line must have really rubbed Hammer the wrong way but does Jay Z even care?
