Distant Relatives

Now this album has been pushed back and delayed since last summer but its now rumored to be released sometime in March/April (March 16th has been reported as well as April 10th) and we finally have some full tracks to hold us over. You can find the album version of the track "As we enter" on the Distant Relatives Myspace, as well as "Only the Strong" in the video at the bottom.

With this much anticipation built up, I now expect this to be a life changing, generation unifying, peace bringing hip hop/reggae album but even if it isn't they are donating all the proceeds to build schools in Africa.

Rumored track listing has Somalian rapper K'naan and the soul diva Joss Stone joining the ranks of legends Stevie Wonder and the late Bob Marley. Looks to be quite the legendary album if it plays as good as it looks. Also, props to the Marley family for keeping this on  lock down as none of the tracks have been leaked. Unlike most of Nas' and pretty much anyone else albums.

Avatar: Plot Fail

Now, I know no one went to see Avatar for the storyline, but this individual's interpretation of the film's plot (taken from failblog) is hilarious...mostly because it is true.

Yes, the film is visually amazing; the artistic visuals and special effects are definitely a great enough reason to go and see this film...in theatres. But this may give those people who call 'Avatar' "the best film of all time" something to chew on.

P.S- If you don't buy this comparison with 'Pocahontas', the plot of 'Avatar' has also been said to have many parallels with the plot of the film 'Fern Gully' (minus the comedic genius of Robin Williams)...just saying.

Brother Ali and... Justin Timberlake?

Justin Timberlake shows up and beat boxes for Brother Ali Live at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Surprising the audience and apparently, the Brother.

Sound quality is bad as it is just a fan video but im sure Rhymesayers was filming that... at least I hope so.

From the Brother himself -
"Last night in Jackson Hole, WY was fun. This dude jumped on stage and started beatboxing. Me being me, I snatched the mic from him and he got off stage. At the end of the song, (DJ BK-One) tells me that was Justin Timberlake. I ran and grabbed him and he beatboxed while I freestyled for about 15 minutes. Sorry JT. Thanks for rockin' with us."

Featured Album

When it comes to mashing all elements of music, Grand Analog are straight up musician magicians (pretty hard to say outloud). With a combination of hip-hop, reggae, rock, soul and anything else you can think of that sounds great, yeah, they do it. GA consists of a band, a DJ, and a couple MC's. Metropolis is Burning is their follow-up album to Caligraffitti (which is also a huge recommendation). Hailing from Winnipeg, they're another Canadian group on the rise that everyone should keep their ears turned on for. Cake Song Picks: Electric City (Feat. Shad), Take It Slow, Videogames, Magnifico

A Bit On Tracy Morgan

Over the past couple days I've been hooked on Tracy Morgan; the guy is addicting to watch. His sense of humor is very original and it is sometimes difficult to figure out if he is being truthful. If you check out some of his interviews on late night shows you will see that he never answers questions with a real answer and always has a "ghetto" aspect to all of his answers. His routine is flawless. There are even interviews where people have commented that he is drunk(which he admits he has a problem), but still, he steals the show and stays in character. I've never really seen many of his movies because most of the reviews have bombed or they just looked pretty stupid i.e Super Hero Movie, Are We There Yet?, Little Man... yeah I think you get the idea. But everything in between is comedic gold. If you haven't seen his SNL Best Of, you best be on that, because it is one of my fav's, hands down. If you check out the special features, you will find his audition which shows a much overweight Morgan (I personally thought it was funnier because the whole time he was out of breath, but he still had a straight face). But then again, some of the greatest comedians were/are overweight.
Although Ive never really followed 30 Rock, I hear his character is basically himself on the show. But what I think he really needs is his own kick ass movie, starring him and written by him, kinda like how Chris Farley has his Tommy Boy, Adam Sandler has his Billy Madison, Jim Carrey has his Ace Ventura, and Norm McDonald has his Dirty Work. You know what I mean, something you could watch, over and over, and be like "fuck yeah, this guy is a legend." So lets hope Tracy pulls through, but in the mean time, here's a video that someone made from a really shitty movie he was in (except for his parts), in which they cut all of his scenes into one video. So check it out and search Tracy in YouTube and watch everything you can.
